killing time

A night out in Munich has not been all it is cracked up to be. I realize it is not Oktoberfest, but i was hoping for something better. This morning i arose bright and early to catch a train north out of italy to innsbruck, austria. It was a fabulously beautiful ride and I found Innsbruck to be a nice sized, homely feeling city. the problem was that there are only two on ramps for the autobahn in innsbruck. both of these were too far out of the city for me to walk to so i bit the bullet and took another train to munich. the plan was to use this countries superb hitch hiking status (or at least rumored status) to head to the netherlands, but today i was talking to an austrian who told me that in germany on the weekends a person can ride any regional trains all day to anywhere for one rate, 28 euros. this is much less than hitch hiking and hostels will cost (it has been too frigid for outside sleeping lately) so i think i may do this. on one hand it is good because my mother will be happy i am on a train. on the other hand it is bad because i will not be able to ride on the autobahn...this time anyhow.

my night in munich has consisted of wasting time until the first train leaves in the morning. i walked to the famous Haufbrahaus beer hall which is three stories of lederhosen wearing waitresses, one liter beers, and hoards of people singing beer drinking songs, doing chants, or just talking loudly. I found a group of Americans my age (not difficult to do) and realized they were feeding many bad stereotypes, so i slowly backed away.

On the way back to the train station (my house for the night) i sat on the street with a street bum and we ate apples together. my time is up...

apparently my grandpa once missed his exit on the autobahn and was going to stop, back up, and get off where he wanted
until my aunt and my grandma started screaming at him
I'm sorry your time is up
