The journey begins
I made it to Amsterdam. The trip went surprisingly well which means i have little to write about. The car made it to the airport, planes were on time, no lost luggage...i even slept for a decent portion of the overnight flight from Chicago. After taking a train to Amsterdam's centraal station, i hung out by a building looking like a bum until my friend showed up to say hello. I'm not sure where i'm going to stay tonight yet, but i've got a few choices. Currently, i am sitting in the ywam building using their free interweb - nice people, those ywamers.
If only i spoke more dutch than, "de kip is smakelek" (sp?) i would have been able to talk with a homeless man and his dog. It was the dog that caught my attention as they hung out on a main walkway over a canal. The man had a bicycle and a comfy mat for the pooch to lay on. He was very talkative...i think. i guess i have no idea what he was saying, but he just wanted someone to listen - and that i can do. This man's complacent dog made me wonder if dogs are like people in that the rich, spoiled ones (ok, only like SOME people) tend to make the most noise. my dog could be considered, in a dog hierarchy, slightly rich and somewhat spoiled. My dog is also skittish, sometimes noisy, and thinks he owns our yard. This man's dog (which looked well-fed), on the other hand, barely looked at me as i walked by. He lifted his head to show me he was alive, but didn't care to bark or sniff me. And i guess that's all i have to say about that. sorry, slightly anticlimactic i know, but no one's forcing you to read this.
later,
ANdrew
P.S. i get to hang out with amanda and dane tonight :)

Glad you made it! The car is great - It's supposed to be a high of 3 degrees on Thursday, so biking would have been terrible!
if you didn't get the last one, here I'm posting again, please keep writing what you're doing when you have a moment, and how many miles does the jetta have on its oil?
Thanks for the update! Looking forward to more exiciting stories...
